AVI-A03. ARCHAEOLOGICAL TOUR
We will leave from the lodging place to Joya de Cerén: a Mayan village that shows us how the common Mayan social groups lived. It was preserved when it was buried under ashes of the eruption of a volcano, which is why it is known as the Pompeii of America.

Joya de Cerén was declared Patrimony of the Humanity by UNESCO.

Then we will go to San Andrés, pre-Columbian ceremonial center where we will see several structures (pyramids) semi excavated, some knolls and their historical museum.

At noon we will have lunch in a pleasant restaurant at the Coatepeque Lake. After lunch, we will travel to Chalchuapa, of pre-Columbian origin pokomame, in the náhuat language the name means: “Place where the little jade abounds”.

Here we will visit the archaeological site El Tazumal where we will admire pyramids. We will listen to the history of the inhabitants and will have the opportunity to see the artifacts found in the museum.

Near El Tazumal there are available replicas of original pieces for sale.
