AVI-A04. PYRAMIDS, MAYAN ARCHAEOLOGY, INDIGO AND COLONIAL CHURCH
We will travel to Chalchuapa, in the náhuat language this name means: “Place where the little jade abounds”.

Here we will visit the archaeological sites El Tazumal and Casa Blanca and see the pyramids, and see the artefacts in the museum. Near El Tazumal there are replicas of original pieces available for sale.

In Casa Blanca we will also learn the process of dyeing fabrics with indigo; the visitors will participate in the manufacture of some articles. Once the design is prepared, the participant will introduce the fabric piece in the blue colorant already prepared for the inking and oxygenating process until they obtain the tone and fixation of blue they prefer. Once dried, the participants will keep the piece they produced.

Learn historical details of the product on which the economy of the country was based during almost 300 years. Then we will visit the Colonial Church Santiago Apostle, a church of rubblework, colonial style, beautiful architectural jewel consecrated to the city patron Santiago Apostle, whose horse representation crowns the cupola of the temple. We will drive back to the lodging place.
