Description
History and memory in the heart of the eastern region
A moving and historical journey through the heart of El Salvador’s recent past. We depart early toward the eastern region to visit the town of Perquín, founded by Lenca tribes. In their language, Perquín means «Path of Embers».
Museum of the Revolution and Perquín Hill
Our first stop is the Museum of the Revolution, where you’ll learn about the origins and impact of the Salvadoran Civil War, told from the guerrilla perspective. We’ll also hike to Perquín Hill, offering spectacular views of the Nahuaterique area.
El Mozote Memorial and Monument
We continue to the town of El Mozote, the site of a tragic massacre, where we will visit its memorial and monument—a place of remembrance and reflection. At the end of the journey, we will return to San Salvador.
